Home Sweet Home

DESCRIPTION:

I and my brother went to Edmonton and visited my mother's friend and her husband in the last month. While we are playing catch and pass in their yard, we saw the couple petting their dogs and laughing together.

At the time, I told to my brother: "I wish I had brought my phone here, this view is just beautiful." The picture is living in my mind even after we start our new course.

When I am asked to create a unique portfolio piece, the first thing that comes to my mind is this picture, so I drew it out.

FINAL VERSION:

SOFTWARE USED: MediBang Paint

WORK EXPLANATION:

This time I tried to mimic the Egg Tempera style of the oil painting on the background. (I wish it worked) For the main piece, I keep their eyes watching each other to lead the eye direction.

For the colours, I chose to use a little bit of red in the middle and add some orange surrounding the subject to let them stand out from the green grass and the blue sides.

CLASSMATE FEEDBACKS:

Lidia Barrera:

This is a very personal work that shows a family enjoying a relaxed vacation day. Good job giving balance to the scene through the placement of the elements.

Laura Slobodcicov:

What an amazing drawing representing a part of your break. I really like how you draw your dog, the fur details and tons made it very realistic.

Theodore Pabulayan:

This is a really beautiful piece. I like how you added the red and orange to let them stand out from the background which is really clever. I also think the egg tempera style for the design is really unique but I think mimicking the style digitally can be tricky and what you did here was a nice attempt👍 .

Kirsten Vermette:

As an artist myself I really appreciate the creative approach you took to this project! I think this poster really captures your time away from SAIT and is very unique. Overall really great piece, I particularly like how the background is desaturated while the main subjects of the painting are more emphasized.
