The White Witch
DESCRIPTION:
The White Witch is a teamwork assignment in SAIT that requires working in a group and using new media to prepare a class presentation that showcases the social media campaign. New media may include audio, video, animation, design, web, and 3D tools.
CAST LIST:
Tzu-Lin Yang, Chi Yung Chan (Jimmy), Yan Lok Yuen, George Cheng, David Virgilio Chavero
PRESENTATION BRIEF:
To commence, Jimmy will initiate the presentation by discussing its agenda, which encompasses four key areas: "Overview," "Client Information," "The Strategy," and "Return on Investment."
Next, Yan Lok will elaborate on the broader design direction, delving into our brand image and incorporating insights from our client information.
Following this, Jimmy will provide a concrete illustration of a target audience and elucidate our business objectives.
Subsequently, David will expound upon our strategic approach to selecting and utilizing the most suitable platforms for our product.
Moving forward, Tzu-Lin will delve into the concept of return on investment, while also showcasing a sample of our social media content.
To conclude, George will encapsulate the presentation by addressing progress evaluation and illuminating our path to success.
BRAND IDENTITY:
It is required not to focus on the brand but on strategies. Therefore, the content pillars, client's content, and social media strategy will be demonstrated more than the logo and sort.
ADs STORYBOARD:
This part of creating the storyboard is what I find the most interesting. Since most of the team members don’t have drawing skills, I was asked to read the stories they wrote and then draw the storyboard based on their descriptions. It requires a lot of imagination, but I think I did a pretty good job!
USER PERSONAS:
My assigned task within this process was 'character design,' which involved creating the characters' personalities, backgrounds, and various details (shown on the left side of the pictures). Coming up with personas that align with our target audience for the brand was like writing a novel, which made it really enjoyable for me.
PAIN POINTS & CHALLENGES:
This time, there wasn't a designated leader for the collaboration, which led to a lot of tasks being poorly distributed. This was the main issue we faced. Fortunately, my teammates were all highly capable, so the work was completed successfully.
> Misunderstandings About the Target Audience:
Some members had the misconception that the broader the target audience, the better. This caused significant challenges during the audience planning, as they disagreed with targeting only females. After multiple discussions, we still couldn't convince them, so the target audience was expanded to include all genders.
> Guessing The Members' Thoughts :
The production timeline for this project was quite short, and we didn’t have much time to communicate with each other, which meant we often had to guess each other's thoughts to collaborate. For example, when drawing the storyboard, I could only imagine the visuals based on the descriptions after reading the scenarios they created. However, I think it went smoothly in the end, and I believe this was thanks to the active discussions in our online group.
> Presentation Time Was Strictly Limited:
This time, the report time had very strict limitations, which forced us to allocate each person's presentation time wisely and balance the sharing of information. We chose to focus on a strategic analysis for our presentation format. However, it was later pointed out that, since the storyboard was beautifully illustrated, we should have allocated more time to properly introduce the visuals we created.
